Writing my way through motherhood.

That reads like an Instagram bio, but it sums me up pretty well. I’ve loved Jesus for as long as I can remember and aim to grow closer to Him every day. I’m married to my not-quite college sweetheart, Sam. We met at James Madison University in Africana Studies in the Spring of ‘06 (maybe ‘07, neither of us are sure anymore), but didn’t start dating until after graduation. We’ve been married for five years and have three daughters: Harper (5), Avery (3) and Ella (2). We’ve moved around quite a bit in the last six years, but Virginia is home.
I became a writer in the fourth grade when I joined Mrs. Weaver’s poetry club. From there, I wrote in journals and diaries until I joined the blogging world in 2010. I blogged faithfully for five years until motherhood and all that comes with it (hormones, lack of sleep and mom guilt, to name a few) took me away from the keyboard for a while. But I’ve learned that I can (and must) write while raising my children. If for no other reason than to be able to look back at this beautiful, yet incredibly challenging season one day.
We write to taste life twice,
in the moment and in retrospect.
